Piano Tuning Services
"There's a joy about playing a piano that is in tune."
I approach each tuning appointment as a service call, instead of just a piano tuning. It's more than just getting the piano back up to pitch where it belongs - your piano should sound better, and play better when I am finished.
I take about an hour and a half to service your piano. Most of that time will be spent tuning your piano, making a couple of passes up and down the keyboard to help insure the tuning will be more stable as well as sound good. I then make minor adjustments and repairs as time allows that help the piano play and sound better.
If the piano needs further work, I make sure that you understand the issue, the impact fixing (or not fixing) would have on the instrument and the possible options you have for repair.
Standard Piano Tuning Service Call
This service will take about 60 to 90 minutes, and includes:
1.) An inspection of all the piano's systems. An online condition report with all the findings is provided free of charge.
2.) Minor procedures (voicing, regulating and a little cleaning) to assure the piano will stay in tune and can be played.
3.) Piano is tuned to A-440
This service works best if done regularly, depending upon how you utilize your piano.
This is like a simple oil change for your car with nothing else. - just the bare minimum maintenance.
First Time Piano Tuning Service Call - Extended Service
This is the same as the Standard Piano Tuning Service call, however, for pianos that have not been tuned or serviced in some time, an extra procedure of tuning is needed to get the piano up to proper pitch and stay there.
This is a "repair" to the tuning, as the tension on the plate and soundboard system must be restored and stabilized.
While this will get the piano sounding in tune, there is usually other elements that have suffered that may need attention.
$105 to $170
Extended Piano Tuning Service Call (half or full day service)
This full service not only includes all of the basic level of service, but more rudimentary regulating to improve response and feel of the keyboard, and minor voicing as well as hammer shaping to improve the tone of the piano. Additionally, to get it to play better, the action screws are all tightened and eased, and action parts are cleaned and lubricated and can include restoring some of the bushing felts with felt restoring fluids to vastly improve the way the action operates.
This is like a full service oil change, where air filter, transmission fluids, power steering fluids are changed, the tires rotated - it is something that is needed to extend the useful life of your piano.
